Parks and Recreation

Ticonderoga offers residents and visitors access to an extensive system of town parks, comprising approximately 135 acres.
Bicentennial Park located in historic downtown has a large playground, picnic areas, fishing access, and an excellent hillside for winter sledding. Canoes and kayaks launch from Bicentennial Falls on the LaChute River in route to Lake Champlain.
Sports fields including baseball and softball fields, tennis courts, and basketball courts are all within the Bicentennial Park complex. And, the 4-mile long LaChute River Trail winds its way around and through the Park to points north to the Ticonderoga High School and Ticonderoga Middle School accommodating both walkers and bicyclists.
The town’s Beautification and Recreation Committees are involved in ongoing efforts to improve the parks, their aesthetic character, and recreational uses.
The Best 4th in the North, Ticonderoga’s July 4th celebration, is well-known in the Adirondack’s with several days of family events scheduled throughout the town including the famous 4th of July fireworks viewed at Bicentennial Park.
