Canoe Specifications

Portage Wheels are OK; they can be left at the beginning and end of the portage.

FUN RACE : Any boat can be used, whether it be a pro boat, competition cruiser, stock, or recreational boat. The boat can have any number of paddlers and any type of paddle. This race is a combined class race.

C-1 STOCK:
Maximum length - 17’ 0”
Width: A. Minimum at 4“ waterline is 15% of length.
Tumblehome not to exceed 3.5” per side.
No minimum weight.
The current  C-1 Stock list includes
Grasse River Boatworks Classic and Classic XL; Wenonah Advantage, Prism, Encounter and Solitude; Sawyer Summer Song, DY Special and Shock Wave; Savage River’s Otegan (modified) Bell’s Magic, and Mad River’s Independence.

C-2 STOCK:
Length: Maximum 18 feet 6 inches
Width: A. Minimum at 4“ waterline is 15% of length.
For example: an 18’6” length boat must be at least 33 3/8” wide.
B. Minimum at 4 “ waterline is 14% of length 18” forward and aft of the widest point of the boat at the 4” waterline.
Weight: No requirement
Depth: Minimum depths from the manufacturer:  Bow 17”, Center 12 1/2”, Stern 16”. Chine: No hard line transitional chine in the hull of the boat.  Curve of chine must be equal to at least the radius of a softball.

Tumblehome: max of 1 inch per side. Included in this class are hulls similar to the Jensen 18.  There are minimal concave lines in the hull and no concave lines in the gunwales.  There is no concavity in the longitudinal axis of the hull (bow to stern), and no concavity in the cross section (side to side) below the 7” waterline. One of a kind canoes are not permitted.

C-1 MARATHON : Maximum length 18'6", No minimum weight. Specs according to NYMCRA and USCA.

C-2 MARATHON : All tandem canoes built for racing including boats like Wenonah's Standard Class Racer, Competition Cruisers, and 3 X 27's. If it looks like a racing canoe it is! Specs according to NYMCRA and USCA. Pro boats are permitted.

MARATHON KAYAK : Any kayak of any material with a maximum length of 20' 0" and a minimum width at the 4" waterline of 18". Wing paddles are legal. This class includes the UNLIMITED KAYAK : Any kayak over 20' in length and / or less than 18" in width at the 4" waterline.Wing paddles are legal.
