The marathon race starts at Mossy Point Boat Launch on the northeast corner of Lake George.
The paddlers race north and complete a loop in the channel before the portage take-out at Tin Pan Alley.
Left onto Water Street
Right onto Alexandria Blvd.
North onto Champlain Avenue.
East on Montcalm Road to Bicentennial Park and the beginning of the La Chute River.
The canoe is then carried across the covered bridge to the boat launch, at the foot of the falls. The portage is 1.3 miles.
Paddlers then race down the La Chute for 2 miles, turn a buoy, and return to the covered bridge. (Total distance for the maraton class is 7.5 miles.)
There will be a recreational class that races only on the La Chute, without the portage. This class starts in Bicentennial Park, near Kissing Bridge. Distance, 4 miles.
